CNY Fiesta

hongkongjohn | February 4, 2009

That's a HUGE flower hat.

That's a HUGE orange.

I've said it once and I'll say it again...Asians love bag pipes.

Her outfit is flowery like my prose.

That's a HUGE inflatable man.

That's a HUGE pile of trash.

Afterwards she handed out fresh baked cookies covered in flecks of blood.

GLOWING EYES

There's a man inside that lion.

Sephu strikes a pose.

Lion petting.

Those are HUGE cows.

Robot modern art.

I can see his foot.

They went a little heavy on the makeup.

They tied the knot.

That's a HUGE fumanchu.

I tried to give him the awkward face, but he leaned in so far it made me laugh.

That's a HUGE hawk lantern.

Chinese cupid.

I'm not tired of seeing this yet.

That's a HUGE building.

That's a HUGE goldfish.

2009 Chinese New Year Parade in Hong Kong

hongkongjohn | January 28, 2009

Dragon dance.

Chinese clowns are even scarier than American clowns.

More dancing. I've said it once and I'll say it again, where there's dancing there's John Erwin.

YAY!

Crazy Japanese Dancers

Hybrid Ox People on roller blades...this confirms my suspicions regarding China's Homeo-Oxen Army

The jockies walk with a panda and the horse rides the float.

Shirtless tribal dancers...they must have been cold.

My initial reaction to the news that I was at the world's happiest party.

I thought about it some more and this is my final thought regarding my attendance at the world's happiest party.

I kept thinking of “Hamburger Helper” when these people were walking by. They were Mickey Mouse hands, but I can't figure out why they didn't order enough for everyone to have two.

This is a martial arts club, but there was not martial arts to be seen.

Weirdness

Some weird guy in a mask.

I love to look at the Hong Kong skyline.

I want to know where I can buy a shiny cowboy hat like they have, but not really so please don't send me any links.

Japanese characters

Wait for me giant foam headed ladies!

The Russians invade Hong Kong.

Bees, bugs, and butterflies.

These girls like to dance, really they stopped every 50 ft to dance. I like to dance to, but prefer to just think about dancing, kind of how sometimes you talk and sometimes you use your “inner voice”.

Human peacocks

And Gary on the kick drum come come on the kick drum come come.

Those chicks are tall.

More tall chicks, but I've know realized they're on stilts and am not nearly as impressed.

Look you can see the wheels!

No parade is complete without the Michelin man.

The Redskin cheerleaders...I'd make fun of them but they all stopped to take pictures with my beard. That's not true, OR IS IT??????

Apparently Thailand is EXTREMELY SHINY!

So many exciting costumes.

That's a lot of folk dancers.

World's Happiest Party

If it weren't for high school and college football games marching bands would likely not exist in America, so why do they exist in the rest of the world?
